American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery 2008 Statisitcs

- 10 million + surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures performed in the United States
- Since 1997, there has been over 162 percent increase in the total number of cosmetic procedures
-Breast Augmentation Procedures: 355,671
- Liposuction Procedures: 341,114
- Eyelid Surgery: 195,104
- Rhinoplasty: 152,434
- Abdominoplasty- 147,392

*Interesting Fact: Nearly one thousand breast augmentations were performed in a single day in the United States (this only includes the actually surgery, not consultations and after-surgery checkups)

    wow, these kind of statistics are outrageous, this says so much about society, humans feel the need to constantyl improve and change themselves to appeal to a certain audience such as the opposite sex. Why cant the real appeal and the fake shake off society.

  2. I think these statistics are mind boggling. It’s crazy to think that so many people get these surgical procedures to make themselves feel better about their self-esteem.

    this is SO sad. and people get these done for all of the wrong reasons. if a guy doesn’t like you naturally, then he doesn’t deserve you and is super shallow. this teaches everything but “be comfortable in your own skin” and “love and embrace your body.” two lessons/ideas that i think are so important to instill in our nation’s youth… as well as everyone!

    Wow! I agree that this is really sad…I can’t believe women would corrupt their bodies in order to “look” better or feel more better about themselves. Instead of doing surgery, have you ever heard of the gym or diet??? :(
